American actress. Born Geraldine Leigh Chaplin, July 31, 1944, in Santa Monica, California; grew up in England; dau. of Charles Chaplin (actor) and Oona O'Neill Chaplin; attended the Royal Ballet Academy in London; had long-term relationship with Spanish director Carlos Saura; children: Shane and Oona.
