Coined term "eco-feminism" and argued that oppression of women is linked to exploitation of nature; writings include Comme un vol de gerfauts (A Flight of Falcons, 1947), Les bergères de l'Apocalypse (1978), Le féminisme ou la mort (1974), and Féminisme-Ecologie: révolution ou mutation (1978, trans. 1999); also wrote feminist essays for journals and anthologies.
