Esserman, Carol (c. 1945–)

American policewoman. Born c. 1945.

Served as plainclothes officer with New York City Police Department; fatally shot Robert L. Greene, alleged numbers runner, becoming 1st woman police officer to kill a suspect in line of duty (1981); indicted by Bronx district attorney and suspended without pay pending trail, was acquitted (1983).
