Portuguese politician. Born Oct 30, 1948, in Troviscal-Oliveira do Bairro, Portugal.
Teacher (1968–99); served on the Gaia town council (1983–91), Oporto city council (1994–99), and was a member of the Assembly of the Republic (1979–91); representing the Confederal Group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL), elected to 5th European Parliament (1999–2004).
