German novelist and short-story writer. Name variations: (pseudonym) F. Born 1783 in Berlin, Germany; died 1850.

Born into Jewish family but converted to Christianity; lived in Vienna and belonged to several literary circles; works include Schmerz der Liebe (1810), Die Entsagung (1824), Eigene und fremde Schuld (1837), and Vergangenheit und Zukunft (1840); translations of French plays published as Theater (1818).
