Dutch nun. Name variations: Marie Habets. Born in Netherlands, Jan 14, 1905; died May 1986 in Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii; lived with Kathryn Hulme (1900–1981, writer).
Met Kathryn Hulme, then director of relocation camps in Bavaria, while nursing at a UN refugee camp in Germany following WWII; as the 2 became close friends, told Hulme of her 17 years in the Congo as a nun and her subsequent defection from the convent to work for the Belgian Resistance; her life was the basis for The Nun's Story.
