Worked as magazine publicist and journalist; was fashion editor at Good Housekeeping (1949–56); at 50, published 1st novel, Scruples (1978), which was a bestseller; other works of romance fiction include Princess Daisy (1980), I'll Take Manhattan (1986), Till We Meet Again (1988), Mistral's Daughter (1990), Secrets (1992), and Dazzle (1995); adapted many of her novels into miniseries for tv.
