Won the European Indoor championship for the 60 meters (1976); at the United Kingdom championships, won the 100 meters and 200 meters (1977, 1978); won a gold medal for 100 meters at the Commonwealth Games (1978); at Moscow Olympics, won a bronze medal in 4×100-meter relay (1980).
