Lukom, Elena (1891–1968)
Russian Soviet ballet dancer. Name variations: Yelena Mikhailovna Lukom. Born May 5, 1891, in St. Petersburg, Russia; died Feb 27, 1968, in St. Petersburg.
Trained at Imperial Ballet school in St. Petersburg under Mikhail Fokine, among others, then danced there for 8 years; danced for over 30 years with Maryinsky/Kirov in imperial- and Soviet-style ballets; best known for her Giselle, was also frequently partnered with Boris Shavroff; taught and directed repertory and rehearsal classes at Kirov Ballet after retirement (1941).
