Melbourne, Elizabeth (d. 1818)
Viscountess Melbourne. Name variations: Lady Melbourne; Elizabeth Milbanke; Elizabeth Lamb. Born Elizabeth Milbanke; died in the spring of 1818; only dau. of Sir Ralph Milbanke, Bart., of Halnaby, in Yorkshire; m. Peniston Lamb, 1st viscount Melbourne; aunt of Anne Milbanke; children: four sons, including Peniston (1770–1805); (possibly with Lord Egremont) Henry William Lamb, 2nd viscount Melbourne (1779–1848); (possibly with George IV, king of England) George Milbanke (1784–1834); and Emily Lamb, countess of Cowper.
Along with her importance in the story of Lord Byron, was one of the many mistresses of George IV, king of England.
