Made NY stage debut in Summer and Smoke (1952), followed by The Grass Harp, Plays for Bleecker Street, Gandhi, Shadow of a Gunman and The Watering Place; made film debut in The Secret Cinema (1968); also appeared in Dog Day Afternoon, Law and Disorder and Stir Crazy.
