Canadian golfer. Name variations: Violet Pooley Sweeny. Born 1886 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; died 1965; m. Campbell Sweeny (rower), 1919.
Was 9-time British Columbia champion and 7-time Pacific Northwest champion (1905–29); was Oregon state champion (1909) and a semifinalist in the British ladies' championship (1913), the 1st overseas player to reach the semifinals; founded Canadian Ladies' Golf Union (1924). Inducted into Canadian Golf Hall of Fame (1998).
