Began career helping stepfather paint murals for US Justice Department and Department of the Interior in Washington, DC; while in Women's Army Corp during WWII, painted combat scenes which were exhibited at Metropolitan Museum of Art and National Gallery; later concentrated on dreamlike landscapes.
