Sono, Ayako (1931–)

Japanese novelist. Born 1931 in Tokyo, Japan; baptized a Christian at age 17; m. Miura Shumon (novelist), 1953.

Awarded Holy Cross Prize by Vatican for work on religious themes; served as participant on government committees; works include The Guests from a Distant Country (1954), Rio Grande and A Miracle; also wrote essay For Whose Sake is Love (1970).
