New Zealand tribal leader. Born in 1886 or 1887, at Whatiwhatihoe, Waikato, New Zealand; died Oct 29, 1937, at Arapuni, New Zealand; dau. of Te Wherowhero Tawhiao and Tamirangi Manahi; m. Kainuku Vaikai; m. Hiroka Hetet; children: at least 10.
Established new community, Kenana, on her own land; worked to alleviate problems of her people; promoted allegiance to Ratana faith.
