American actress. Born Mary Kathleen Turner, June 19, 1954, in Springfield, MO; attended Southwest Missouri State University; University of Maryland, BFA, 1977; m. David Guc, 1977 (div. 1982); m. Jay Weiss, 1983; children: (2nd m.) Rachel Ann (b. 1987).
Had recurring role on "The Doctors" (1978–79); appeared in film Body Heat (1981); came to prominence with Romancing the Stone (1984); other films include Crimes of Passion (1984), Prizzi's Honor (1985), The Jewel of the Nile (1985), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), The War of the Roses (1989), V. I. Warshawski (1999), Serial Mom (1994), The Virgin Suicides (1999) and Without Love (2004); appeared on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1990). Nominated for Tony Award for Best Actress for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (2005).
