Zaslavskaya, Tatyana (1924–)
Ukrainian economist and sociologist. Name variations: Tatiana Ivanovna Zaslavskaya. Born in 1924 in Kiev, Ukraine; attended Moscow University.
Was a member of the Communist Party (1954–90); became a full member of Russian Academy of Sciences (1981); wrote the Novosibirsk Memorandum, criticizing the Soviet economic system, and was one of the academic supporters of the Gorbachov reform plan of perestroika during the final years of the USSR; was president of Sociological Association of USSR (1989–91) and USSR People's Deputy (1989–91).
