Davidson, Lucretia Maria (1808–1825)
American poet. Born in Plattsburg, New York, on September 27, 1808; died at age 17 of tuberculosis in Plattsburg on August 27, 1825; daughter of a physician; sister of Margaret Miller Davidson (1823–1838).
An American poet, Lucretia Maria Davidson was considered remarkably precocious, writing her first poem, "Epitaph on a Robin," at age nine. Before she died of tuberculosis at age 17, her work included 278 poems of various lengths. In 1829, Samuel F.B. Morse collected and published her writings under the title Amir Khan and Other Poems. She was the sister of Margaret Miller Davidson .
