Elizabeth Christina of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel (1715–1797)

Queen of Prussia. Name variations: Elizabeth Christina of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel; Elizabeth Christine. Born on November 8, 1715; died on January 13, 1797; daughter of Antoinetta Amelia (1696–1762) and Ferdinand Albert II, duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel; married Frederick II the Great, king of Prussia (1712–1786, r. 1740–1786), on June 12, 1733; children: none.

In 1733, at his father's insistence, Frederick II the Great married the German princess Elizabeth Christina of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, though he never loved her. Once he became king in 1740, Frederick had nothing more to do with her. He would later die childless, with a nephew to succeed him.
