Hagan, Ellen (1873–1958)
Swedish feminist, journalist and speaker . Born in 1873; died in 1958; married to the governor of Gävleborg County.
Devoting her life to feminist causes, Ellen Hagan founded the Uppsala Suffrage Society (1903) and served on the Central Board of the Federation for Women's Suffrage (1903–22). After World War I, she became president of the Federation of Liberal Women in Sweden. During the 1920s, she was the editor of the women's journal Tiderarvet and for ten years, beginning in 1922, was a member of the International Alliance Committee. During World War II, she worked as an executive with "Help for Norway." Hagan, who was married to the governor of Gävleborg County, was awarded the Order of the Star of the North in 1953.
