Born on January 5, 1909, in Bucharest, Rumania; died on January 21, 1991, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio; daughter of Ferdinand I, king of Rumania, and Marie of Rumania (1875–1938); married Anthony, archduke of Austria, on July 26, 1931 (divorced 1954); married Dr. Stephen Virgil Issarescu, on June 19, 1954 (divorced 1965); children: (first marriage) Stephen (b. 1932); Marie-Ileana (1933–1959); Alexandra (b. 1935); Dominic (b. 1937); Maria Magdelena (b. 1939); Elizabeth (b. 1942).
Ileana, the archduchess of Austria, was born in Bucharest, Rumania, in 1909, the daughter of Ferdinand I, the king of Rumania, and Marie of Rumania . In 1931, she married Anthony, archduke of Austria. The marriage was dissolved 23 years later. She then married Stephen Issarescu in 1954. Following her second divorce, Ileana became a nun in the Orthodox faith at the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, and took the name Mother Alexandra.
