Krebs-Brenning, Marie (1851–1900)
German pianist known for her performance of largescale concertos. Born Marie Krebs in Dresden, Germany, on December 5, 1851; died in 1900; daughter of Karl Krebs (a music critic and philosopher).
Marie Krebs-Brenning was born in Dresden in 1851, the daughter of Karl Krebs, a music critic and philosopher. She toured Europe at an early age, was particularly well-liked in London, and had no fear of including the large-scale concertos in her repertoire, including Beethoven's Emperor. In 1870, Krebs-Brenning toured the United States as accompanist to the violin virtuoso Henri Vieuxtemps.
