Roman noblewoman . Died in 119 ce; daughter of Ulpia Marciana and C. Salonius Matidius Patruinus; niece of Trajan, the Roman emperor; married L. Vibius Sabinus; children: Sabina (88–136 ce); Matidia II .
Mother of the Empress Sabina , Matidia I was present at the death of Trajan in 117 ce. When she died and was deified in 119 ce, Hadrian delivered her funeral oration.
