American equestrian. Born on November 3, 1950.

Won Olympic individual silver and team gold in three-day event in Los Angeles (1984).

In the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, 33-year-old Karen Stives took the individual silver medal in the three-day event behind Mark Todd of New Zealand. Virginia Leng won the bronze. In the same event, Stives also won team gold. Two years earlier, she had been near death, after a horse fell on her.
