Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House ★★★½ 1948
Jim Blandings (Grant), wife Muriel (Loy), and their two daughters must give up their Manhattan apartment for new digs. City boy Jim wants to become a suburbanite and the Blandings decide to build their dream house—with many complications. Timely at its release because of the post-WWII housing shortage and building boom, this classic comedy is still a humorous treat with Grant at his funniest. Loy and Douglas provide strong backup. A must for all homeowners. Based on the novel by Eric Hodgins. 93m/B VHS, DVD . Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, Melvyn Douglas, Lex Barker, Reginald Denny, Louise Beavers, Jason Robards Sr.; D: H.C. Potter; W: Norman Panama, Melvin Frank; C: James Wong Howe; M: Leigh Harline.
