Gheyn, Matthias van den
Gheyn, Matthias van den, Flemish organist and composer; b. Tirlemont, Brabant, April 7, 1721; d. Louvain, June 22, 1785. From 1741, he was organist at St. Peter’s, Louvain, and from 1745, town “carillonneur” he was celebrated in both capacities. He composed pieces for organ and for carillon.

Fondements de la basse continue (lessons and sonatinas for organ and violin); 6 divertissements pour clavecin (c. 1760).
