Kuhse, Hanne-Lore
Kuhse, Hanne-Lore, German soprano; b. Schwaan, March 28, 1925. She was educated at the Rostock Cons, and the Stern Cons, in Berlin, and later studied in Potsdam. She made her debut in Gera in 1951 as Leonore in Fidelio. From 1952 to 1959 she was a member of the Schwerin Opera, and from 1959 to 1964 she sang at the Leipzig Opera. In 1964 she joined the East Berlin State Opera. In 1974 she was appointed prof, at the Hochschule für Musik in East Berlin. In 1954 she was named a Kammersängerin. A versatile artist, she was as stylistically faithful to her roles in Mozart’s operas as to the heroic and lyric Wagnerian parts.
