Zeinally, Assaf
Zeinally, Assaf, Azerbaijani composer; b. Derbent, April 5, 1909; d. Baku, Oct. 27, 1932. He studied cello and trumpet at the Baku Cons., graduating in 1931, but died a year later, at the age of 23. He was a highly promising musician; his particular merit was the attempt to compose music in classical forms on folk themes; in this manner he wrote several violin pieces, a Children’s Suite for Piano, and many songs to words by native poets.
