The Open Group An industry association dedicated to ‘boundaryless information flow’. In practice this means the development and promulgation of open (i.e. nonproprietary) standards and the certification of products as complying with them. It is sponsored by IBM, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, and Sun Microsystems but over 150 other companies are members.
