Barbara Sanchez Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational fund for pursuing college degree in human resources or a related field. Focus: Personnel administration/human resources; Media arts. Qualif.: Applicants must be SHRM members; must be working full-time in human resources media field. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on merit.

Funds Avail.: $1500. Number Awarded: 5. To Apply: Applicants must return the signed application form with a letter of acceptance from the college and two letters of reference. Deadline: July 15.

Remarks: The scholarship was created to honor the late Barbara Sanchez, an HR Director at Newsday and dedicated member of the Media Human Resources Association board of directors.

SHRM Certification Scholarships -Individual (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide education scholarships to individuals pursuing study in Human Resource Management. Focus: Personnel administration/human resources. Qualif.: Applicants must be working full-time in human resources; must be working towards certification as professional in human resources (a global professional in Human Resources or a senior professional in Human Resources). Criteria: Recipients are selected based on work experiences and commitment to human resources.

Funds Avail.: $750. Number Awarded: 12. To Apply: Applicants must return the signed application form with a copy of resume; list of past SHRM volunteer leadership roles; and an essay. Deadline: July 15.

SHRM Foundation Regional Academic Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage interest and education in the field of human resources. Focus: Personnel administration/human resources. Qualif.: Applicants must be working full-time in the field of human resources or pursuing graduate college degree in a Human Resource related field in an accredited institution of higher learning (full-time, part-time, online and distance learning programs are acceptable). Previous applicants and past scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based primarily on merit and will be evaluated according to the criteria set by the reviewing committee.
