An interdisciplinary organization (formerly the Association for the Anthropological Study of Consciousness) interested in states of consciousness; shamanic, spiritual, and magic phenomena; indigenous healing practices; mythological and religious studies; and psi phenomena. SAC publishes a quarterly journal, The Anthropology of Consciousness (formerly the AASC Newsletter ). and sponsors an annual spring meeting consisting of monograph readings, panel discussions and workshops.
