Rojo, María (1946–)

María Rojo (b. 15 August 1946), Mexican actress. As a child, Rojo debuted in the film Besos prohibidos. She later studied acting at the University of Veracruz. Her first starring role was in the film El apando. Among her other important feature performances are: Naufragio, Bajo la metralla, María de mi corazón, Confesiones, Las Poquianchis, Lo que importa es vivir, Rojo amanecer, La tarea, Danzón, Salón México, El call-ejón de los Milagros, Demasiado Amor, and El mis-terio de los almendros. Her acting style lends itself to a wide range of roles. One of the finest dramatic actresses in Mexico, Rojo has received more film awards than any actress in the history of the Mexican cinema.
