OSVÁT, ERNÖ
OSVÁT, ERNÖ (1878–1929), literary critic and editor. From 1902, when he began editing Magyar Géniusz, Osvát devoted himself to widening the horizons of Hungary's literary press. He founded Figyelő in 1905 and three years later also joined the staff of Nyugat, where he promoted talented young writers, especially the poet Endre Ady. The tragic death of his only daughter led him to commit suicide.
