Career: Apprentice to filmmaker Jonas Mekas, mid-1960s; manager, Allen Ginsberg's farm, 1968-1971; Old Dominion University, literature professor, 1981-85; Wasedo, Sophia, and Rikkyo Universities, Fulbright specialist lecturer in American Literature, 1983-84; Tougaloo College, professor, 1985-89; Virginia Military Institute, professor, 1989-. Taught in Poznan, Poland, 1986, 1988; worked with poet Allen Ginsberg on variety of projects; Independent filmmaker and photographer. Publications: '66 Frames: A Memoir, 1999.
