Clash of the Titans
Clash of the Titans woof! 1981 (PG)
Mindnumbing fantasy derived from Greek legends about heroic Perseus, who slays the snakehaired Medusa and rescues a semiclad maiden from the monstrous Kraken. Wooden Hamlin plays Perseus and fares better than more accomplished Olivier and Smith, who seem in need of enemas as they lurch about Mt. Olympus. Only Bloom seems truly godlike in a supporting role. Some good, some wretched special effects from pioneer Harryhausen. 118m/C VHS, DVD . GB Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith, Claire Bloom, Ursula Andress, Burgess Meredith, Harry Hamlin, Sian Phillips, Judi Bowker; D: Desmond Davis; W: Beverley Cross; C: Ted Moore.
