Hot Fuzz ★★★ 2007 (R)
Wright and Pegg, the lads who revitalized the zombie genre with “Shaun of the Dead”, offer this decidedly English take on the over-the-top Hollywood action genre. Constable Nick Angel (Pegg) is the best cop in London, but when his over-achieving starts making the force look bad, he's transferred to the quiet village of Sandford and saddled with a lump of a partner, Danny Butterman (Frost). However, once Angel discovers the secret behind Sandford's surprisingly high “accident” rate, he and Danny team up Riggs and Murtaugh-style to take down the town fathers, vicar and all. Such a smart premise, and Pegg sells every moment, but it veers off into parody occasionally due to some regrettably broad supporting players. 121m/C DVD, HD DVD .
