Lighting in a Bottle ★★★½ 2004 (PG-13)

Smokin' hot concert film documenting the roots and progression of the blues, structured around a 2003 show at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Director Antoine Fuqua and producer Martin Scorsese call on just about every face in the biz, over 50 musicians, to do what they do best—plug in and howl at the moon. The requisite blues legends abound, but it's the more contemporary artists paired with legendary blues songs that really bring down the house. Will undoubtedly generate a new fan base for the genre. 103m/C DVD . USD: Antoine Fuqua; C: Lisa Rinzler; M: Steve Jordan.
