The Limey ★★★ 1999 (R)

Sixties icons Stamp and Fonda show that age has not withered their acting chops in Soderbergh's revenge thriller. Wilson (Stamp) is a Cockney career criminal who gets out of a Brit prison and immediately flies to L.A. to investigate the death of his daughter Jenny. She was involved with selfimportant record producer Valentine (Fonda), who has an obvious fondness for young women. Wilson may be outoftouch with California culture but he's definitely in control of any situation. Soderbergh's flashback sequences make use of footage from Ken Loach's 1967 film “Poor Cow,” which featured Stamp as a young thief named Wilson. 90m/C VHS, DVD . Terence Stamp, Peter Fonda, Lesley Ann Warren, Luis Guzman, Barry Newman, Joe Dallesandro, Nicky Katt, Amelia Heinle, Melissa George, Bill Duke; D: Steven Soderbergh; W: Lem Dobbs; C: Edward Lachman; M: Cliff Martinez.
