Whistling in the Dark
Whistling in the Dark ★★★ 1941
Skelton plays Wally Benton, a radio sleuth nicknamed “The Fox,” in the first of a three-film series. Veidt (an always excellent villain) is the leader of a phony religious cult, after the money of one of his followers. He decides to kidnap Skelton and have him come up with a plan for the perfect murder but of course there are all sorts of comic complications. Skelton's first starring role is a clever comic mystery and a remake of the 1933 film. Followed by “Whistling in Dixie” and “Whistling in Brooklyn.” 78m/B VHS .
