Bressler-Gianoli, Clotilde
Bressler-Gianoli, Clotilde, Italian contralto; b. Geneva (of Italian parents), June 3, 1875; d. there, May 12, 1912. She received her primary training at the Geneva Cons., then enrolled at the Milan Cons., where she studied singing with Sangiovanni, Giocosa, and Ronconi. She made her operatic debut at the age of 19 in Geneva in Samson et Dalila; later sang at La Scala in Milan, at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, and with the San Carlo Co. at New Orleans. Her best roles were Carmen and Mignon.
