Brixi, Šimon
Brixi, Šimon, Czech organist and composer, father of Franz (Frantiŝek) Xaver Brixi; b. Vikava, Oct. 28, 1693; d. Prague, Nov. 2, 1735. He settled in Prague, where he studied law at the Charles Univ. After completing his musical training, he became organist at the Týn Church. In 1725 he was made a music teacher at St. Martin’s school and organist at the church, serving as its choirmaster from 1727. He was an accomplished composer of sacred music.
