Dérivis, Henri Etienne
Dérivis, Henri Etienne French bass, father of Prosper Dérivis; b. Albi, Aug. 2, 1780; d. Livry, Feb. 1, 1856. He made his debut at the Paris Opéra as Sarastro in the French version of Die Zauberflote under the title of Les Mystères d’lsis in 1803. During the next 25 years he was a principal singer there, creating roles in WORKS by Spontini (La Vestale, Fernand Cortez, and Olympic), Cherubini (Les Abencerages), Rossini (Le Siege de Corinthe), and others.
