Ettinger, Max (Markus Wolf)
Ettinger, Max (Markus Wolf), German conductor and composer; b. Lemberg, Dec. 27, 1874; d. Basel, July 19, 1951. He studied with Herzogenberg in Berlin and with Thuille and Rheinberger at the Munich Akademie der Tonkunst. After conducting in Munich (1900–1920), Leipzig (1920–29), and Berlin (1929–33), he settled in Switzerland in 1938.
