Etta Zuber Falconer

1933-

African-American mathematician whose work in group theory has won acclaim. In addition to her mathematical accomplishments, Falconer was awarded the Louise Hays Award for her outstanding achievements in mathematics education, particularly her efforts to improve the mathematics education of African-Americans at all levels. Falconer served as Chair of the Spelman College Department of Mathematics from 1971 to 1985 and continues to remain active in both mathematics and mathematics education.
