Fayolle, François (-Joseph-Marie)
Fayolle, François (-Joseph-Marie) , French writer on music; b. Paris, Aug. 15, 1774; d. there, Dec. 2, 1852. He was educated in Paris at the Ecole Polytechnique (mathematics) and the College Mazarin, and also studied with Perne (voice and harmony) and Barny (cello). He lived in London (1815–29), where he contributed to The Harmonicon, and then settled in Paris. WithA.-E. Choron, he publ. the Dictionnaire historique des musiciens, artistes, amateurs, morts ou vivants (2 vols., Paris, 1810–11); he also publ. Notices sur Corelli, Tartini, Gavinies, Pugnani et Viotti (Paris, 1810) and Paganini et Beriot (Paris, 1830).
