Heiss, Hermann
Heiss, Hermann, German composer and teacher; b. Darmstadt, Dec. 29, 1897; d. there, Dec. 6, 1966. He studied with Bernhard Sekles in Frankfurt am Main (1921), then took a course in 12-tone music with Hauer (1925). He was active as a teacher in Frankfurt am Main and Vienna; from 1946 he taught at the Darmstadt summer courses for new music. In his compositions, he adopted ultra-modern techniques.
