Jedlicka, Dalibor
Jedlicka, Dalibor, Czech bass-baritone; b. Svojanov, May 23, 1929. He received his training from Rudolf Vašek in Ostrává. In 1953 he made his operatic debut as Mumalal in Smetana’s The 2 Widows in Opava. In 1957 he became a member of the National Theater in Prague, where his extensive repertoire included not only standard German, Italian, and French roles but various Czech roles. He toured with the company abroad, including its visit to Edinburgh in 1970 when he sang in the first British performance of Janacek’s The Excursions of Mr. Brouček; alsoappeared as a guest artist in Amsterdam, Zürich, Warsaw, Venice, Bologna, and other cities. In 1993 he made his U.S. debut at the San Francisco Opera as Kolenaty in Janacek’s The Makropulos Affair.
