Klima, Alois

Klima, Alois, Czech conductor; b. Klatovy, Dec. 21, 1905; d. Prague, June 11, 1980. He began his musical training with his father, and after taking courses in mathematics and physics at the Univ. of Prague, he studied with Dëdecek and Dolezil (conducting) and Kficka and ftidky (composition) at the Prague Cons. He conducted the radio orchs. in Kosice (1936) and Ostrava (1936–38), and then was chief conductor of the Prague Opera Studio (1939–46) and the Prague Radio Sym. Orch. (1950–70); he also was a teacher at the Prague Cons, and Academy of Music
