Ley, Salvador
Ley, Salvador, Guatemalan pianist and composer; b. Guatemala City, Jan. 2,1907; d. there, March 21,1985. He studied at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik (1922–30), concurrently studying piano with Georg Bertram (1922–30) and theory and composition with Klatte (1923–25) and Leichtentritt (1928–29). He was director of the National Cons, in Guatemala City (1934–37; 1944–53), and then taught at the Westchester (N.Y.) Cons. (1963–70).

Lera, opera (1959); Danza exotica for Piano (1959); Suite for Flute and Piano (1962); Concertante for Viola and String Orch. (1962); Toccatina for Piano (1965); Introduction and Movement for Cello (1965); other piano pieces; songs.
