Némethy, Ella
Némethy, Ella, Hungarian mezzo-soprano; b. Sá-toraljaujhely, April 5, 1895; d. Budapest, June 14, 1961. She studied at the Budapest Academy of Music and with Panizza in Milan. In 1919 she made her operatic debut as Dalila at the Budapest Opera, where she remained as one of its principal artists until 1948. She was especially known as a Wagnerian, garnering particular success as Briinnhilde, Isolde, and Kundry.
